John is a decorated US Army Retired Colonel and accomplished business executive who brings a strong legacy of excellence to Walden Businesses. He has leveraged his broad experience to build, turnaround, stabilize, and drive growth and value for mid-sized businesses and organizations.
John’s success as a business leader encompasses 35 years and spans the banking, community development, technology, and transportation and logistics industries. He has led companies to deliver value with operational, strategic, and analytical agility. During his commercial banking roles, John executed C-Suite clients in strategy, financing, risk management, treasury management, divestitures, mergers, acquisitions, and leadership transitions.
John’s entrepreneurial tenacity includes 15 years as a founder, owner, and president of his own consulting firm, which focused on advising and restructuring financially troubled companies. While building profitable growth, John provided them with strategic vision and operational focus by delivering value-added client solutions in business development, strategy and operations, and finance.
John held multiple positions in the US Army Reserve from platoon to battalion command in Iraq, Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. In addition to his multiple leadership and operational awards, John is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and the recipient of the Legion of Merit. He retired as the Deputy Division Chief of Operations at US Army Forces Command, serving all operations of 750,000 soldiers.
John is also a graduate of the M&A Source Academy and holds the Certified Mergers & Acquisition Professional (CM&AP) credential. He holds a master’s in banking from Virginia Military Institute and holds an MBA from Virginia Military Institute as well as a BBA from the University of Georgia. He is a Western graduate serving with the 82nd Airborne Division.
