Meet BOB TANKESLEY
Bob Tankesley is a seasoned M&A Advisor specializing in lower middle market transactions, with a strong focus on the industrial sector. He holds multiple academic and professional credentials, including an MBA in Finance and a non-practicing CPA license. After earning his graduate degree, Bob spent five years at a Fortune 500 manufacturing company, followed by roles at a Big Four accounting firm and a boutique tax practice. In 2001, he founded his own tax and financial advisory firm.

A fourth-generation entrepreneur, Bob brings a unique understanding of the challenges and goals of business owners. Before entering the M&A space in 2013, he successfully ran his CPA firm for more than 12 years. His practice included a financial services component, always with a consistent focus on the needs of entrepreneurs. Over the past 25 years, Bob has guided hundreds of owners through a broad range of financial and strategic challenges.
LEADERSHIP IN EXIT PLANNING
Bob is the co-founder and former board member of the Atlanta chapter of the Exit Planning Exchange (XPX), a 100-member volunteer organization committed to transforming the approach to exit planning in the Southeast U.S. He is also the author of Exit Teams, a book and ongoing media project that educates business owners on the value of assembling a collaborative advisory team well before a sale. As host of the Exit Teams Podcast, Bob explores strategies with guests to help owners optimize operations, improve financial reporting, and build companies that can thrive without daily owner involvement—all essential elements for a successful sale.
